Louise (Lu) MacMillan is a true representation of what it means to be a community banker. Her long standing career began 35 years ago as a Teller at the Ely location for Highland Bank, formerly known as Boundary Waters Bank, and she is recognized by her peers and community as the “go-to” person that you need in your corner.
Lu’s drive to learn more is what sets her apart and has helped her to grow professionally. She has acquired knowledge in the many different areas of banking including commercial and consumer services, human resources, finance, and operations. Her determination and dedication has instilled confidence and trust in the people she
works with and the customers she serves. With a positive attitude and calm approach, Lu finds great joy in helping customers and employees find solutions to their needs.
Lu is a staple in the Ely community. She is the familiar face that everyone has come to know when they visit the bank and when she is out serving her community. Over the years, she has chaired and participated on multiple community boards and each year she coordinates the bank’s participation in the annual Ely Marathon.
When she’s not helping her coworkers, customers, or community, you can find Lu relaxing up at the lake and spending quality time with her family.
