We have an exciting career opportunity for a Portfolio Manager I

Position Summary:

In line with established policies and procedures, is responsible for effectively managing and servicing a team portfolio of smaller to midsize business relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. New Underwriting: Direct contact with prospects and/or customers and Business Banker to ensure accurate and timely completion of new money requests for relationships >$500,000 in exposure
  2. Renewal Underwriting: Direct contact with prospects and/or customers and Business Banker to ensure accurate and timely completion of renewal loan requests for relationships >$500,000 in exposure
  3. Annual Reviews: Direct contact with prospects and/or customers and Business Banker to ensure accurate and timely completion of annual reviews for relationships >$500,000 in exposure
  4. Problem Loan Reports: Direct contact with prospects and/or customers and Business Banker to ensure accurate and timely completion of Problem Loan Report’s
  5. Portfolio Monitoring: Direct contact with prospects and/or customers and Business Banker to ensure accurate and timely completion of loan covenant tests, borrowing base certificates, and loan file comments for relationships >$500,000 in exposure
  6. Ordering Reports: As applicable, ordering/reviewing pre-close responsibilities (i.e., appraisal, IPV, title work, environmental, etc.)
  7. Doc Review: Second review of loan documents to ensure accuracy
  8. Ensure workflow on WIP log is up-to-date and accurate
  9. Jointly responsible with the Relationship Manager for effective client interaction and communication, to ensure a positive client experience, and high customer satisfaction.
    Provides credit/deal structuring expertise and aids in the preparation of lending proposals and term sheets.
  10. Assists with the pre-screening of new loan opportunities. Reviews loan requests for reasonableness and cash flow coverage. Requests/Completes financial spreads and cash flow tables.
  11. Assists the Relationship Manager by initiating the underwriting process: preparing Credit Transmittals, drafting Minor Credit Displays, and completing WAM’s.
  12. Partners with team BBA to obtain and review all necessary collateral verification documentation (Title work, Environmental Assessments, Appraisals, etc.) and conduct pre-close loan reviews of documentation; to minimize compliance, regulatory, and lien perfection exceptions.
  13. Regularly monitors the customers’ repayment and overdraft activity of team portfolio.
  14. Maintains a high level of bank compliance and regulatory knowledge. Trains and educates self in new areas of job knowledge through formal education, self-study, and reading of trade journals. Maintains the privacy and security control of all customer records.  Reports suspicious activity or lax security measures as appropriate.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specifications:

  1. BA/BS degree in business or finance with strong accounting and a minimum of five years’ general business lending experience or equivalent total years of experience.
  2. Financial statement analysis background with proven credit skills including analysis, documentation, and structure
  3. Possess a lending philosophy consistent with the Bank
  4. Credit Risk Management
  5. Solid oral and written communication skills
  6. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  7. PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets
  8. Maintains a high level of knowledge of bank operations, products and services, and regulatory and statutory requirements
  9. Leadership abilities to provide guidance to subordinates
  10. Ability to operate standard office equipment
  11. Strong attention to detail
  12. Must maintain a high level of knowledge of legal and regulatory banking compliance in order to properly complete the duties of position.
