Highland Bank has been growing alongside our community since 1943. We’re dedicated to strengthening communities by reciprocating the support shown to our local bank in the form of time, talent and donations.
As members of an interdependent community, we believe people and corporations are responsible for improving the places where they live and do business. That’s why we created our Community Involvement Program (CIP). Our mission: To give back while providing an example of charitable giving for other local businesses.
As a MN Keystone Program member since 2002, we’ve proudly committed 2% of our annual pre-tax earnings to local non-profits that strive to strengthen our community’s families and businesses and our collective integrity, accountability and responsibility. We’re proud of the recognition we’ve received for our CIP as a MN Keystone Program Honored Company.
Grant Program
The mission of Highland Bank’s CIP is to help strengthen the communities we serve. We achieve this mission by supporting charitable organizations and those in need in our market areas.
Our CIP Steering Committee meets on a quarterly basis to review grant applications submitted by local non-profit 501(c)3 organizations for donation and sponsorship requests. The CIP Committee will give highest priority to organizations that promote the development of commerce, especially through program activities and scholarships. We also give high priority to programs that support strengthening families.
Employee Match
Our employees are passionate about giving back to our community and many of them donate money on their own to their favorite causes. To support the philanthropy of our employees and invest in the causes that matter to them, we established an employee match program, matching their donations to non-profit organizations dollar for dollar.
United Way/Community Health Charities Campaigns
Highland Bank has been a strong supporter of the Greater Twin Cities United Way since 1994 and Creating Healthier Communities (CHC) since 2017. Both organizations unite donors with the most trusted charities in our community. Our annual giving campaigns raise money and awareness for these organizations through donation drives, community outreach activities, and internal fundraising.
Our hands-on support goes beyond financial.
While financial support and partnership with local charities is a big part of what we do, volunteering allows our employees to foster a deeper connection to the citizens they serve. We encourage our employees to volunteer on the clock at group volunteer events that benefit local charities.
In recent years, Highland Bank employees have dedicated their time to clean up the banks of the Mississippi with the Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa, unpack and sort clothes for ARC Greater Twin Cities and serve food to children at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
In 2023, our employees took a day (pictured) to work with Emerge Mother’s Academy to package diapers, birthday kits, self-care kits and weekend snack packs.
