This is my Uncle Alan. He met my aunt in 1977 and they married in 1979. After over twenty-five years of marriage, my aunt was diagnosed with brain cancer. When we knew that cancer treatment would not work, he took her home and lovingly and unselfishly took care of her. He went above and beyond for her while making sure she was comfortable. She ultimately passed away in 2006. It wasn’t too many years after that, that he helped take care of one of his brothers who also passed away of cancer. A few years after that another brother became sick with cancer and passed away. In 2011, his son passed away suddenly and his son’s wife was left with their three children. He was also there for them with anything they needed. From supporting them financially, being at school plays, and helping them move, he was always there! He later fell in love with a woman and they dated for about 12 years. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. During this time, he took care of her. He cooked, cleaned, gave her vitamin massages, and bathed her. He did everything he could do for her. More than a nursing home would do because he loved her so much! She passed away in September of this year and his heart is now broken. I cannot think of a more wonderful and deserving man than my uncle Alan. I would love to be able to send him on a beautiful trip somewhere as he is the most unselfish person I have ever met in my life and is somebody that we should all aspire to be. He gives himself unselfishly to those whom he loves and cares for. I hope you will pick us, as it would be such a great Christmas gift to tell him that he is going on a trip somewhere and all he has to do is pick the place!
